AKDF and Waterside create Cynthia K. Dwyer Scholarship
When Cindy Dwyer decided to step down from the Waterside School board after fifteen years of tireless and productive service, the AKDF board – without her knowledge – decided that nothing would be more fitting for the Foundation or please Andrew more, than to create a scholarship fund in Cindy's name at Waterside. The AKDF approached Waterside with an offer of an initial gift of $100,000 and a commitment of $50,000 more over time. The School was, to use their words, both overjoyed and humbled. The next day citing Cindy's enduring impact on the School, Waterside took the extraordinary step of deciding to match 2:1 any funds contributed by the Foundation or donated in Cindy's honor to establish the Cindy Dwyer Endowed Scholarship Fund – a legacy piece that will be forever; that will provide opportunities for those young and deserving; and that will honor Cindy in a manner befitting. And so, another wonderful chapter in the Foundation's continuing relationship begins.
